What I Got for Christmas - Beauty Edit | The Italian Chick

Hello there! How are we all doing?
Have you guys had a good Christmas Time? I hope so. Mine was pretty nice, filled with food, festive joy and lots of present giving..and of course receiving. Among all the amazing stuff i have been lucky enough to receive, i got quite a few beauty bits. I thought i'd share those with ya'll. Some of them i've already tryed, so i can also quickly review. Let's get cracking!

Let's start with these beauties. I received four Nailpolishes.
Three are from KIKO and one from Essie.
I'm quite familiar with KIKO nailpolishes: they're quite cheap, have an unbelievable color range to pick up from and last a fair amount of days paired with a good topcoat. The colors i've got here are absolutely stunners, and really intense, even after only one coat. (Number 825/809/816).
The Essie one is really a showstopper. We all know it's gonna look amazing. (Number 97 Trophy Wife)

Look at these. My Auntie picked up the most amazing eyeshadow selection for me.
From left to right: Number 178 is a super deep Black with multicolored sparkles. Ah.
Number 124 is an amazing Taupe, slightly irridescent. Blended in the crease for an extra sophisticated look.
..Paired with 130 an amazing matte Butter color.

Here's a little game for you.. spot the lip product.
From left to right, we have KIKO supergloss in 116, a nice shimmery peach. (perfect for summer!)
KIKO Ultra Glossy Sylo spf 15 in 815, an amazing Mauve color.
(here's the link for the swatches )
And KIKO pencil lip gloss in 05. I love these. Formula and packaging!

And of course, I've got some Lush bits from my Chumster Chiara.
This year she's gone for a huge piece of Snow Fairy scented soap. I can still smell it right now, even if it's standing in his box on the other side of the room.

You know how i feel about Lush's policy. Their shampoos are unbelievably green. They don't have plastic packaging, and last at least 80 washes. Plus they smell amazing, and they look like massive macaroons. This one is Jumping Juniper, and smells like Lavender and Lime. Soo good.

And last but not least, my Auntie gave me this amazing Revlon gift set. It contained an extra black eye pencil and the Photoready £D Volume mascara. I absolutely loved the pouch it came in, so luxurious, ipm definitely going to be reusing it. Plus, i love Revlon make up. And needed a new mascara and New pencil.
This is a winner!

Annnnnnd that's it guys! Hope this gave you some inspo on how to splurge your Christmas savings on beauty and make up! As usual, thanks so much for reading, it means a lot. Hope you are all having an amazing life, i guess i'll talk to you again in the new year! So happy New Year, let's make it a good one! Byeee

Christmas Yankee Candle Haul #2 | The Italian Chick

Hello there my little red nose reindeers!
Today i have been so buisy studying the whole morning and afternoon, that i've decided to go out in the evening to breathe some fresh (Christmas) Air.
So, I went out to Town. I guess you know what that means!
I bought Candles. This time I wanted to buy a full size-massive-jar jobby, in my favourite winter scent, that is Fireside treats. Later on in the shop i found out that it was not only my favourite, as it had totally disappeared from the counter. So instead of buying a whole jar of a scent i wasn't even fond of, i went for the sampler again, to try out new scents. That's what i came up with!

  • Lemon Lavender: first buddy i got is this Lemon Lavender one. It is not the most Christmassy of scents, but i can assure you that it smells lovely ( i'm not even talking about how cute the lilac candle and the yellow tag look toghether.). Soothing and sweet lavender comes together with tangy lemon citrus to create a fresh blend that's clean and inviting. The combination of two classic fragrances offers the opportunity to enjoy the flower's coveted scent in a fresh, new way.

  • Season of Peace: this little one is the only festive scent i've allowed in today's shopping. I'm naturally fascinated by white candles, that smell like sweet-but not too much- and clean and cosy home. It smells like winter's snowfall, and its cool enchanting white musk blend makes it the perfect Christmas Eve scent.
  • Turquoise Sky: last but not least, i picked up this little blue number. Now, i guess i should have figured by the blue color, or by the image of the sea on the tag that this one is considered like a perfect summer-holiday-beach house scent. In my defense i can say that i absolutely love the look of the sea in winter, and that it smells unbelievable. I'm gonna quote the Yankee website because i could not describe this smell better: 'Calm, salty air with hints of sea grass and musk, float gently on ocean waves . . . off on an adventure beneath a bright blue sky.'
And that was it for this post. I really do love Yankee Candles, i think they're the best, and such a treat. Hope you like them as much as i love reviewing them. As always let me know, and thanks so much for reading and sharing. Oh, i forgot something.
To all of you my best wishes for a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS! Have the best one! Meg x

Hello there!
This week we're gonna take a break from Blogmas, and focus on beauty things again. Last week's post featured an appearance of my H&M Face MasksSince then a lot of real life (and internet) people started to ask me about these, because they're easy to find (come on, everyone has an H&M shop near their household!), very cheap, and they look very fun to try.I've been intruduced to these quite lately, by the ever so famous Gaia. She has the most amazing collection, and has tryed almost all of them. Plus, she has opinions. So, for this week's post i've asked for her collaboration to create the ultimate H&M face masks review. So sit, relax, grub a cuppa..and let's start.

A quick disclaimer: These masks are very different one to another, and they work for very different purposes. For this reason the Ingredient list (INCI) changes everytime. I've been reading them, and some are good, some aren't. I will note the particularly good ones, and mark the worst ones.
Moreover, every skintype is different. We've tryed them on our skin..but you may not have the same result.
Be sure to try some of it on the back of your hand before you apply it all over your face, to avoid bad mistakes. All masks can be applyed with a brush or just with your fingertips avoiding eyes and lip area. You leave them for 10-15 minutes, the rince with water. They all are 1.95€ (0.99£ \ 0.99 $ )

Rich Chocolate moisturising mask:  this very thick mask leaves your skin soft, moisturised and very very smooth. It smells like real life chocolate, not artificial at all. It's quite fun to put on, but also very heavy. Overall, it's a good one.
*The INCI is almost perfect.

Olive Oil Deep Cleansing Mud Mask: This very dense mask hasn't the most amazing color not smell at all. It goes on quite nicely anyways, and when it dries it does not compleately dry out your skin. It leaves your skin opaque, and evens out any discoloration of your face.
*The INCI is good.

Cinnamon & Argan Oil revitalising mask: This mask has the ultimate gloomy consistency. Moreover, if you don't like cinnamon, you won't be able to stand its smell. It needs to be applyed with your hands, as it melts with the warmth of your fingertips. Also, it contains Argan Oil. The skin looks more radiant, but we don't see how this product can be considered revitalizing.
*The INCI is good.

Warm Exfoliating Sugar Scrub: This is the only mask that can be used only once, because before you apply it you need to place the whole sachet in warm water for 1 min. You then apply it on your face avoiding sensitive areas, you leave it for 10 min, massage gently and then rince with water. This has one of the most amazing smells ever. The skin looks very smooth and clean afterwards.

Dead Sea Mineral Mask: If you've got combination skin, this is the right mask for you. It mattifies your skin, minimizes the pores and moisturizes your skin. It looks like mud, and smells like it.
It can dry out your skin while it's on, but the gain is worth the pain. Not adviced for dry skin.

Brown Algae Youth Mask: This one has the consistency of a regular moisturiser. It is perfect after a day by the sea, or in the snow. So, suitable for quite stressed skin. It's quite hard to take off, especially if you're looking for fresh, clean skin after you apply a mask. Overall, it's not bad at all.

Pomegranate and Passion Fruit Peel Off Mask: When you first see it, it looks like hair gel. The color is amazing: bright hot pink. It dries out your skin quite slowly, but can dry out your skin a lot while it's on. It's very easy to remove, since it's peel off. It leaves the skin very smooth, even, and exfoliate.

Blueberry Burst Nourishing Mask: This very dense, light lilac cream looks and smells exactly like a smoothie. Leaves your skin extreamely refreshed, smooth and clean. You'll feel regenerated, and young. It's perfect for winter.

Raspberry Smoothie Pore Cleansing Mask: Like the previous one, this smells and looks exactly like a raspberry smoothie. Hence the name. This is a personal favourite of mine. The smell is amazing, ( the ingredients are all sorts of fruit), and it leaves the skin refreshed, clean and very very soft. This is a winner.
Perfet sleep-over mask.
*The INCI is ok.

Coconut Water Moisture Mask:  This is quite an oily one. The smell feels not very natural at all. I'm not a big fan of the result, maybe because i don't have very dry skin, as it leaves my face quite oily.
On a brighter note, the INCI is very very good.

Pear and Melon Calming Mask: This is a winner after a very buisy day in the sun. It's very refreshing and calming. Smells amazing and relaxing. It leaves the skin very soft, but can be quite oily after you take it off. There's no need for moisturiser afterwards tho. This one really does the job.

Zesty Lime energizing Mask: This one is perfect for summer. It has a very watery consistence. Overall, adviced for oily to combination skin, because it can dry you out very much. The smell is very fresh and Zesty, and it really is a quick, energizing trick to pumper you up after a stressful day. Leaves your skin clean, fresh and awake.
*The INCI is good.

Dragon Fruit Polishing Mask: This pink, fluid sweet smelling face mask will exfoliate you face gently, and leave it fresh and fruit-scented. This is not hard to take off, however i find it leaves quite a lot of residues behind. It's a nice pampering mask, although it doesn't seem to improve my skin very much.

Orange Peel Off Mask: This peel off mask, is very similar to the Pomegranate and Passion Fruit one, in terms of consistency and effect. The main difference is that it's orange and smells like an orange. What a surprise!
* Ouch! the INCI is not at all good!

Rhubarb and Lingonberry Face Mask: This is also a Peel Off one. Smells very natural, and has the consistancy of a gel. A small amount takes a long way. It can be quite harsh on sensitive skin. Due to it being a peel off mask there was no mess and it was easy to get it all off without leaving little bits behind.

It leaves skin feeling smooth as well as clean.*The INCI is not so good.

And that's all for today. Uff, this one was a though one to do! so a MASSIVE thanks to my friend Gaia ( tumblr:  for being so lovely and sweet (and silly)! I owe you! And to you guys, i reaally do hope you found it usefull! As usual, let me know because i really love your feedback. I'll talk to you very soon!

Christmas Haul! | Blogmas 2013

Hello there lovely people!
So, how are we doing? I hope everyone's feeling amazing.
Well, I do! Because it's Christmas, i got overboard, and i bought things.
I guess those are not very exciting for you to see, apart from a couple of beauty bits..but you know what, it's Blogmas here on The Italian Chick, so if i'm buying a Christmas jumper, the world needs to know. (maybe).
As a disclaimer, i just wanted to point out that there's a theme running trough this Haul, and nope, it's not only Christmas things. It's Red. But since i'm all festive and that, and i love a bit of Taylor Swift, i'm not really bothered by the color scheme of the following pictures.

Yes. I just bought Michael BublĂ© 's Christmas Album. And it's on repeat. And i'm so very pleased about it.

I bought red velvety pijamas, from Hue. They're just so soft, confy and worm. They have a very big flat elastic on the hips, so they don't do up with strings, that sometimes can be quite annoying, expecially when you're sleeping. And they're Red.

These are my new socks, also from Hue. I just loved the fact that they're festive, yet absolutely beautiful and very good quality. The color match is beautiful: i love the combination between ashy blue and bright red. They're so thick and warm that you're never gonna wanna take them off.

And obviously, no Christmassy haul would be completed without a Christmas Jumper.
This year i bought mine from H&M. They had such a good selection of patterns and colors, that i wanted to take home all of them. In the end i've decided to buy this bright red number. The snowflakes got me guys.

Just to point out, nope, i have not forgotten that this blog was meant to be based on beauty and skincare.
So i guess i'm gonna stick with my environnement, and talk you a bit more in detail trought these last few bits.
Recently i've been to my friend Gaia's house (you may remember her from last week's post) and after a lovely sunday roast we talked all things beauty. At some point she introduced me to her vaste collection of H&M Face Masks. I was very fascinated by all the different types and flavours, -and i must admit, i was also capturaded by the colorfull packaging- that i decided to give them a go. They're very cheap (1.95 € , somewhere near one pound fifty) , so to get started i've decided to buy two:
I went for Coconut Water Moisture Mask and for the Raspberry Smoothie Pore Cleansing Mask.
I've only tried the coconut one once, so to give a full review, i just wanted to wait to try out more and for a longer period of time. Don't worry, a blog post(maybe featuring Gaia, the expert?) will arrive soon.
One thing i really did try is the Rimmel Stay Matte powder you can spot in the right corner.
I use the clear one, in the shade 001 Transparent. There's not much to say: it's my favourite drugstore pressed powder. It does what it says what it says on the lid: it's long lasting, controls the shine and minimie the appereance of pores. I bloody love it.

And that's it for today guys! As always i hope you liked, and thanks so much for all that you do!
If you're not very keen on this kind of useless blogposts, don't worry, a beauty one will be featured very soon! I'll see you in a bit, take care!

A Festive Afternoon | Blogmas 2013

My friend Gaia decided to jump on Santa's van as well, and join in in what turned out to be a very very lovely noon. We had Tea, ate lots of biscuits, and went Christmas Decoration shopping! Christmas Yankee Candle Haul | Blogmas 2013

Ho Ho Ho!
It's the 4th of December, and you know what that means. I'ts officially that time of the year in which it is (almost) legitimate to get excited for Christmas. So i've got my Michael Buble Christmas album playing in the background, i'm wearing cosy pijamas, and my favourite scented candle's setting the festive mood in my bedroom. Now, i just wanted to point out that Christmas for me and my family does is the best time of the whole year. And since when it arrives it just lasts a couple of days, what i like to do to make the Festive spirit last longer, is to do all things Christmassy from the start of December, untill the actual Christmas day.
So basically the idea behind my 'Blogmas' (which for the peeps out there is Blogging+Christmas), is to share with you all my Festive goods, from beauty to fashion to some cute diy i might do during the month of December, to Christmas music and food, to obvs Presents.
Now, i personally believe one of the most amazing things to set the mood during the Festive period, is a good scented candle. Since i've discovered that one of my hometown's home decor shop sells Yankee Candles, i went a bit cray cray. And since i might as well buy some as presents for my friends and family (hint), i just wanted to buy a couple of new scents to try out.
So that's what i'm sharing with you today!

I've managed to take some pictures of them just after buying them, because i knew i wanted to burn them as soon as possible. So now that i've tried them i can guarantee that although they may seem quite small, they last a fair amount of hours. The sizes i got are called Votive Candles or Sampler, and Wax Melts. Votive candles ( the bigger ones) are made to compleately melt, so they need to be burned in a glass candle holder. They melt untill 15 hours, and it's better to melt them in small separate periods (like 3 hours or so) rather than just to burn them all in one go, as they might last a little bit longer. The Wax melt instead, needs an oil diffuser thingy to be used. So you better get one of those. It is super intense tho!
Now let's go into detail, shall we.

So i thought i might as well start with my favourite candle scent EVER. Ladies and Gentlemans i present you Fireside Treats. Once again i wish blogs also had a smell feature, because smells are hard to describe, this one particularly hard. First of all i'd like to point out that the name is the cutest thing, and that the picture is very much appropriated. Ah, the effort they put in such things.
It basically smells sweet like Marshmallows, but it's not as simple as that. Nope, because it's not a Marshmallow scented candle..this one smells of a marshmallow toasted to gooey perfection. 'You'll almost hear the laughter and singing, and feel the joy of a night around the campfire with family friends. But there'll be no need to lick the sticky remains from your fingers!, Thanks Yankee Candle fragrance caption.
It is basically Winter Wonderland in a candle, so if you have the chance just go and give it a smell.

Ok, let's try to lower the level of excitement here. This next little one is Spiced Orange. I picked this because i was a bit carried away by all the spices. This one in particular smells like a Cloves-covered  orange, as you can easily tell from the picture. It has a nice, spicy but not sweet winter scent, made out by an amazing blend of sweet orange, clove, ginger and cinnamon.

This other number is definitely going to be repurchased in full-size pretty soon: it's Honey & Spice.
This lovely warm, wintery scent is made out by a fine blend of flower nectar, honey musk and spices.
Its smells AH-MAZING. It's just so sweet, rich and luxurious, and i love it.. as you can probably tell by now.

This last one is not a Votive candle, it's actually a Wax Melt, in the scent Home Sweet Home.
This particular one was one of my mum's picks, because she absolutely loves cinnamon.
This is really strong for me, but if you like cinnamon smell, than i guess you'll love it. On the Yankee Candle site i also discovered that it doesn't contain only Cinnamon Oils. It also includes baking spices, and a hint of freshly poured tea. Definitely go and give it a sniff! And oh, the picture it comes with, and the name.. it's just too cute for me to handle.

So, that's it for today's Blogmas post!
I hope you like it, and hope you'll like the idea of Blogmas as well.
If you don't celebrate Christmas, i hope you can just appreciate the festive spirit, and if you don't like this time of the year.. i'm sorry. Ahah thanks so much again for all your support, it means everything!
I'll talk to you very soon! have a nice life, Meg x
